Submarine

Home

Back in the summer of 2002 I came across a 32nd Parallel WWII Gato/Balao submarine kit.

I quickly made a reasonable offer and before I new it, I had a 10 foot submarine kit.

The Gato kit is considered the Cadillac of all Remote Control sub kits at the time of offering. It came with every option offered (including scale working torpedoes) when the (now defuct) 32nd Parallel company offered it.

I had plans of building it into a working sub with working torpedoes, retractable bow planes, ballast tanks for dive and surface, sound effects, onboard camera, the works....along with a me wearing the WWII navy officers tan uniform, and my two boys in navy sub crew blues.

They would work and operate the two RC PT-boats of the same 1/32 scale of Dads submarine.

But, the flying bug is too strong and I reluctantly sold the sub kit 5 months later to gain sufficient funds to buy the Firestar Fabric/ paint kit. To this day, a little part of me wishes I had not sold it.
